Troops Raid Bandits Hideout, Rescue Six Kidnap Victims in Kebbi
Troops of Sector 2, Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have rescued six kidnapped victims during an operation in Wasagu Local Government Area of Kebbi State.
The victims were rescued on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, following credible intelligence on the activities of suspected terrorists around Mehinua Village, along the Wasagu-Ayu Road.
According to a statement issued on Thursday by the Media Information Officer of the Joint Task Force, Lt. Col. Aliyu Danja, troops swiftly mobilised to the area after receiving the intelligence and encountered the suspected terrorists.

The troops engaged the terrorists with sustained fire, forcing them to flee and abandon the kidnapped victims.
The six victims were subsequently rescued unharmed.
The military said the rescued victims and the vehicle recovered during the operation were handed over to relevant community authorities for further necessary action.
The operation, according to the Joint Task Force, underscores the commitment of Operation FANSAN YAMMA to protecting the lives and property of law-abiding residents across its area of responsibility.
The task force commended members of the public for their continued cooperation with security agencies and urged residents to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious activities to the nearest security outpost to facilitate timely intervention.
