Military Rescues 10 Hostages, Recovers Stolen Vehicle, Nabs 2 Suspects in Katsina, Zamfara
Troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA have rescued 10 kidnapped civilians and arrested two suspected criminals in separate operations across Katsina and Zamfara states.
In Katsina State, troops of Sector 2 responded to a distress call concerning terrorists who intercepted a commercial vehicle conveying traders along the Funtua–Faskari axis and forced the occupants into the surrounding bush.
The troops swiftly mobilised to the area and pursued the assailants, who engaged them in a firefight. The troops’ superior firepower reportedly forced the terrorists to retreat into the forest, abandoning their captives.
All the abducted victims were rescued unharmed and subsequently escorted to Sheme Market, where they were reunited with their communities.
In a related operation in Dutsin-Ma Local Government Area of Katsina State, troops acting on credible intelligence about the movement of a stolen vehicle along the Katsina–Dutsin-Ma highway launched a joint operation with the Nigeria Police Force.
