9 bandits neutralised as Police Air Wing raids camps in Katsina, Zamfara
The Nigeria Police Air Wing has eliminated nine suspected bandits and destroyed several criminal camps during sustained aerial operations across parts of Katsina and Zamfara states.
The operations also led to the recovery of arms and ammunition and the disruption of the logistics and communication networks of the criminal groups operating across the North-West.
Seven of the suspected bandits were identified as associates of notorious bandit kingpin, Ado Aleru, following operations conducted around Karaduwa, Matazu, Dutsin-Ma, Dan Musa and Yankuzo in Katsina State.
The operations involved coordinated aerial surveillance, reconnaissance, troop insertion, air cover and interdiction missions aimed at disrupting the bandits’ activities and denying them freedom of movement.

In a separate operation around the Jangebe axis of Zamfara State, two senior lieutenants linked to another notorious bandit leader, Kachalla Abdullahi Na Sanda, were also eliminated.
The aerial strikes further resulted in the destruction of several bandit camps and the recovery of weapons and other military equipment used by the criminal elements.
Recovered and destroyed items included three PKM machine guns, three AK-47 rifles, 20 magazines, ammunition and a rocket launcher with warheads.
The Force said the coordinated air and ground operations had significantly weakened the bandits’ communication and logistics networks while providing aerial support to ground troops and facilitating the rescue of kidnapped victims.
The Police said the operations would be sustained to prevent the criminals from regrouping, rebuilding their camps and renewing attacks on communities across the affected areas.
