Troops eliminate scores of Lakurawa terrorists, recover machine gun, rifles in Kebbi
Troops of Sector 2, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have eliminated several suspected Lakurawa terrorists and recovered weapons, ammunition, motorcycles and other combat items during an offensive operation in Arewa Dandi Local Government Area of Kebbi State.
The operation was conducted as part of ongoing efforts by the troops to clear terrorist enclaves and deny criminal elements freedom of action along the Nigeria-Niger border.
During the clearance operation, the troops advanced into identified terrorist hideouts around the Gumki general area of Arewa Dandi LGA.
According to a statement on the operation, the troops made contact with the terrorists on the fringes of the Nigeria-Niger border and engaged them with superior firepower.

Several terrorists were reportedly neutralised during the encounter, while others abandoned their positions and fled into the surrounding forest.
The troops subsequently conducted follow-up operations and a thorough search of the area, leading to the recovery of a PKT machine gun, AK-47 rifles and a large quantity of ammunition.
Other items recovered included 7.62 x 54mm belted ammunition, 7.62mm special ammunition, four motorcycles, two smartphones and N87,000 cash.
The troops also recovered assorted combat and miscellaneous items believed to have been abandoned by the fleeing terrorists.
The military said troops have maintained a strong operational posture and continued to dominate the area as part of efforts to prevent the regrouping of the terrorists and safeguard surrounding communities.
The operation forms part of sustained offensive efforts under Operation FANSAN YAMMA to dismantle terrorist networks and restore security across the North-West, particularly in areas bordering neighbouring countries.
