NAF Commissions 30-Flat Residential Facility Personnel in Makurdi
The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has commissioned a 30-flat residential facility for married non-commissioned officers at NAF Base Makurdi, Benue State, as part of efforts to improve personnel welfare and enhance operational readiness.
The facility was commissioned on Friday, September 18, 2026, in furtherance of the Service’s commitment to providing decent accommodation and better living conditions for its personnel and their families.
Representing the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, at the commissioning ceremony, the Chief of Policy and Plans, Headquarters NAF, Air Vice Marshal AY Abdullahi, said adequate accommodation was essential to building a focused, motivated and mission-ready force.
A statement issued by the Service quoted the CAS as saying that the provision of decent housing reflected the NAF’s sustained investment in the welfare and wellbeing of its personnel.

According to him, personnel who enjoy improved living conditions are better positioned to remain focused and committed to their duties, as decent accommodation helps reduce domestic pressures while boosting morale, productivity and operational effectiveness.
The newly commissioned facility is expected to ease accommodation challenges among beneficiaries, improve their quality of life and contribute to the NAF’s capacity to deliver airpower in support of Nigeria’s national security objectives.
Aneke urged the beneficiaries to maintain the facility responsibly, stressing that investments in personnel welfare go beyond improving living conditions to sustaining a professional, resilient and effective fighting force.
He reaffirmed the importance of prioritising personnel welfare as a critical component of maintaining operational effectiveness and ensuring the Service remains capable of responding to the country’s evolving security demands.
