FCT Police Arrest 300 in Major Raid on Crime Flashpoints, Recover Knives, Toy Gun, Cannabis
The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has arrested approximately 300 persons during a coordinated raid on identified crime flashpoints, shanties and uncompleted buildings across the Territory.
The operation, conducted on Saturday, September 19, 2026, also led to the recovery of knives, a toy gun, cannabis and other illicit drugs from suspected criminal hideouts.
The Command’s Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, disclosed this in a statement issued on Saturday, adding that the operation was part of ongoing efforts to prevent crime, disrupt criminal activities and enhance the safety and security of residents.
According to her, the arrested persons are undergoing thorough screening and profiling to establish their identities and determine possible involvement in criminal activities.
She said those found to have committed offences would be charged to court in accordance with the law, while persons with no case to answer would be released after due screening.

The Commissioner of Police, FCT Command, CP Ahmed Muhammed Sanusi, reiterated the Command’s commitment to sustained intelligence-led raids and proactive policing operations, particularly at locations identified as potential hideouts for criminals.
Sanusi also cautioned youths and other residents against the use and abuse of illicit drugs, warning that substance abuse could impair judgment, fuel violent and criminal behaviour, and expose individuals and communities to serious security risks.
He urged persons struggling with drug use to seek appropriate counselling and rehabilitation support rather than allow substance abuse to lead them into criminal activities.
The commissioner further directed police officers participating in such operations to maintain professionalism and operate strictly within the law.
He warned officers against using raids and arrests as avenues for extortion, intimidation, harassment or unlawful demands for money, stressing that personnel found engaging in such misconduct would face appropriate disciplinary action.
The Command called on residents to continue providing credible and timely information on suspicious activities and criminal hideouts within their communities.
