Kaduna: Troops Neutralise 5 Suspected Kidnappers in Gun Battle
Troops have killed five suspected kidnappers and members of a criminal syndicate during a gun battle in Sanga Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
The incident occurred at about 12:30 a.m. on Monday, September 21, 2026, after troops of Sub-Sector 71 had earlier arrested five suspected notorious criminals and kidnappers in the area on Sunday.
According to military sources, the suspects were taken in for further interrogation, during which they allegedly confessed to involvement in kidnapping and other criminal activities.

The suspects subsequently agreed to lead the troops to locations believed to be hideouts of the syndicate, where security forces planned to recover weapons and arrest other members of the group.
However, while the troops were proceeding to the suspected hideouts shortly after midnight, they encountered other members of the syndicate, resulting in an exchange of gunfire.
During the ensuing confrontation, the five previously arrested suspects were killed, while other members of the syndicate fled into the surrounding area.
No casualty was recorded among the troops during the engagement.
Security forces have since intensified efforts to track down and apprehend the fleeing suspects as clearance operations continue in the area.
