Makkah Grand Mosque Muazzin Sheikh Ibrahim Al-Madani Dies
Sheikh Ibrahim bin Adel Hamza Al-Madani, a muazzin at the Grand Mosque in Makkah, Masjid Al-Haram, has died.
His death was announced early Monday by Inside the Haramain, an account that provides updates on activities at Islam’s two holiest mosques.
According to the account, Sheikh Al-Madani performed his final Adhan, the Islamic call to prayer, at Masjid Al-Haram on 11 Rabi Al-Awwal 1448 AH.
“It is with great sadness we share the news of the death of the Muadhin of Masjid Al Haram, Sheikh Ibrahim Al-Madani,” the account said in a post on X.
The funeral prayer for the late muezzin is scheduled to be held after the Asr prayer on Monday at Masjid Al-Haram. He is expected to be buried at Al-Mu‘alla Cemetery in Makkah.
Tributes accompanying the announcement prayed for Allah’s mercy upon the deceased and commended his service in calling the Adhan at the Sacred House.
Sheikh Ibrahim Al-Madani was formally appointed as a muezzin of Masjid Al-Haram in 1439 AH, corresponding to 2017–2018.

Born in Madinah in 1397 AH (1976), he reportedly grew up in a religious family. His paternal grandfather was a Qur’an memoriser who played an important role in nurturing his early religious education.
He became involved in calling the Adhan at a neighbourhood mosque in Madinah at about 15 years of age. He subsequently served alongside three other local muezzins on a rotational basis until completing his college education.
He later suspended the role while undertaking teaching engagements outside Madinah but resumed in 1428 AH (2007–2008), when he was invited to call the Adhan at Masjid Al-Maddah.
He continued in that role until his formal appointment to Masjid Al-Haram a decade later.
Having been raised in Madinah, Sheikh Al-Madani was reportedly influenced by the traditional Madinan style of the Adhan. His exposure to the Makkan style also grew through visits to Makkah with his father, where he met Sheikh Abdul Latif Mulla, a former muezzin of Masjid Al-Haram and an acquaintance of his grandfather.
Sheikh Al-Madani held an academic qualification in Qur’anic Studies.
