Kano Police Arrest Suspected Kidnapper, Recover Drone in Border Clearance Operations
The Kano State Police Command has arrested a 35-year-old suspected kidnapper and cattle rustler and recovered a cine-camera drone during separate clearance operations conducted across the state.
The operations, carried out along the Kano-Kaduna and Kano-Katsina border corridors, were conducted in line with the directive of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, on sustained interstate handshake patrols and clearance operations.
The Police Public Relations Officer in Kano, CSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, disclosed this in a statement issued on Monday on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori.
Kiyawa said operatives of the Command’s Anti-Kidnapping Squad, acting on credible intelligence, arrested Habibu Bello, 35, of Kunkumi Town in Makarfi Local Government Area of Kaduna State, on September 14, 2026, at about 4:48 p.m.
According to the statement, Bello is suspected of being a member of a criminal syndicate allegedly involved in kidnapping, armed robbery and cattle rustling across Kano, Katsina and Kaduna states.
The Police said further investigation led to the arrest of another alleged member of the syndicate, identified as Mudam, of Kwanar Dangora.

The Command said the investigation had linked the suspects to several alleged kidnapping and cattle-rustling incidents, including the abduction of a woman identified as Hajiya Binta of Kwanar Dangora, for which a ransom of N20 million was allegedly paid.
The suspects were also allegedly involved in the kidnapping of a household in Gwarzo Local Government Area of Kano State, as well as cattle rustling activities across Kano, Kaduna and Katsina states.
Police said investigation was ongoing, with efforts intensified to apprehend other suspected members of the syndicate and recover weapons allegedly used in their operations.
In a separate development, police operatives recovered a cine-camera drone marked GT 50 during a clearance operation at Hawan Tarau Village in Bebeji Local Government Area of Kano State.
The drone was recovered on September 17, 2026, at about 2 p.m., after it was found lying on the ground in the area.
The Command said it had commenced efforts to establish the source of the drone and identify its owner.
The Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, commended the operatives for what he described as their gallantry and assured residents that the Command would sustain clearance operations in collaboration with neighbouring police commands.
He said the objective was to deny criminal elements safe havens and disrupt their activities across the state’s borders.
