Adeniyi Pledges Customs’ Support for 2026 World Public Relations Forum
The Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Adewale Adeniyi, has pledged the Service’s support for the successful hosting of the 2026 World Public Relations Forum (WPRF), stressing the importance of strategic communication to the implementation of institutional reforms.
Adeniyi made the commitment on Tuesday, September 22, 2026, when a delegation led by the President and Chief Executive Officer of the Global Alliance for Public Relations and Communication Management, Professor Justin Green, and the President and Chairman of Council of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), Ike Neliaku, visited him at the Customs House in Maitama, Abuja.
The visit was part of engagements with key institutions ahead of the global public relations gathering scheduled to hold in Abuja from November 15 to 21, 2026.
The Customs boss used the occasion to highlight reforms being implemented by the Service, including B’Odogwu, the Authorised Economic Operator (AEO) programme and Advance Ruling.
According to him, the initiatives are designed to streamline Customs processes, improve predictability for legitimate businesses and strengthen engagement between the Service and its stakeholders.

Adeniyi said effective communication had remained an important component of institutional reforms, particularly in explaining policy changes, building stakeholder understanding and strengthening public confidence.
“The Nigeria Customs Service recognised the importance of the World Public Relations Forum and its potential to bring global attention to responsible communication, institutional trust and effective public service,” he said.
He assured the organisers of the Service’s support for the forum and its commitment to contributing to its success.
Earlier, Green described Nigeria’s hosting of the 2026 WPRF as a significant opportunity for the country and the public relations profession in Africa.
He said the forum would provide a global platform for Nigeria to showcase its cultural heritage, communication industry and innovative approaches to public relations, while facilitating knowledge-sharing, professional collaboration and discussions on the future of communication.
Green said representatives of all 126 member countries of the Global Alliance were expected to participate in the forum.
Also speaking, Neliaku said the NIPR was engaging critical institutions and stakeholders ahead of the event because their participation and support were essential to its success.
He said the institute was working towards delivering what he described as the “best, biggest, and brightest” World Public Relations Forum, with Nigeria demonstrating its capacity to host a major international professional gathering.
The forum, according to him, will be held in Abuja under the theme, “Responsible Communication: The Voice of the World.”
