Pantami’s Ticket: 24 Gombe PDP Assembly Candidates Mobilise Members for Fresh Governorship Primary
The 24 Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) State House of Assembly candidates in Gombe State have called on party members to participate in the fresh governorship primary scheduled for Tuesday, September 29, 2026, following the Federal High Court judgment nullifying the exercise that produced former Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Professor Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami, as the party’s candidate for the 2027 election.
The candidates, under the leadership of Hon. Sadeeq Gidado, PhD, popularly known as Bargan Gombe, urged eligible members across the state to turn out in large numbers and participate peacefully in the election.
The call was contained in a statement signed by the Secretary of the PDP’s 24 State Assembly Candidates, Hon. Dr. Abednego Mailauni Odahson, also known as Dr. Mutum.
According to the statement, accreditation will commence at 8 a.m., while eligible members are expected to confirm their designated voting points with their respective ward secretariats.
The candidates said the fresh primary provides an opportunity for party members to demonstrate their commitment to internal democracy, due process and party unity.
They urged participants to present valid PDP membership cards, appropriate means of identification and voter cards where applicable, while complying with the party’s accreditation requirements and electoral guidelines.

The mobilisation follows the September 24 judgment of the Federal High Court in Gombe, which nullified the May 26 governorship primary through which Pantami emerged as the PDP’s candidate.
Following the ruling, the PDP’s national leadership formally notified the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) of its decision to conduct a repeat primary on September 29.
In a letter dated September 24 and jointly signed by National Chairman Abdulrahman Mohammed and National Secretary Senator Samuel Anyanwu, the party informed INEC that the fresh exercise would take place at its state secretariat in Gombe.
The Gombe State chapter subsequently issued a public announcement directing eligible members to assemble in their respective wards.
The latest mobilisation statement by the Assembly candidates similarly advised members to confirm their designated voting points with their ward secretariats. However, the relationship between the ward-level arrangements and the state secretariat venue identified in the national leadership’s notice has yet to be clarified.
The Assembly candidates appealed to members and supporters to cooperate with party officials and maintain order throughout the exercise.
They also urged participants to respect the party’s guidelines and the rule of law, stressing that the fresh primary should be conducted peacefully and transparently.
The statement did not endorse Pantami or any other governorship aspirant, nor did it identify those cleared to contest the repeat primary.
The September 29 exercise is intended to produce the PDP’s governorship candidate for the 2027 election following the court-ordered cancellation of its earlier primary.
