Troops Rescue 14 Kidnap Victims, Recover AK-47, Ammunition in Katsina
Troops of Sector 2, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have rescued 14 kidnapped victims and recovered an AK-47 rifle, ammunition and a motorcycle during clearance operations in Faskari Local Government Area of Katsina State.
The operation, conducted on Friday, September 25, 2026, was part of ongoing efforts by the troops to dismantle terrorist networks and restore security across the area.
According to a statement on Saturday, the troops, while conducting routine security patrols in the Faskari axis, encountered a group of suspected terrorists.
The troops engaged the terrorists and, leveraging superior tactical capability and firepower, forced them to abandon their positions and flee into the surrounding terrain.

During a subsequent clearance of the area, the troops rescued 14 abducted persons comprising 12 males and two females.
Preliminary assessment indicated that the victims had earlier been abducted from Anguwan Miko and Tafoki communities in Faskari LGA.
The rescued victims are currently receiving medical attention and other necessary support before being reunited with their families.
In a related development within the same operational area, the troops also foiled an attempted attack by suspected terrorists.
Following the engagement, the troops recovered one AK-47 rifle, an unspecified quantity of 7.62mm special ammunition and a motorcycle allegedly used by the fleeing suspects.
The operation underscores the ongoing efforts by troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA to disrupt terrorist activities, rescue kidnapped persons and recover weapons used by criminal elements operating in the region.
