Nigerian Navy opens 2026 recruitment for Batch 39 Basic Training School
The Nigerian Navy has commenced preparations for the recruitment of eligible Nigerians into the 2026 Batch 39 of its Basic Training School.
The recruitment exercise is scheduled to run from October 2 to October 31, 2026, with interested applicants required to complete the application process online through the Navy’s official recruitment portal.
The Navy announced the exercise in a post on its official X handle on Monday, alongside the recruitment guidelines.
According to the guidelines, the exercise is open to eligible Nigerian citizens by birth who possess a National Identification Number (NIN) and meet the prescribed educational, age, physical and medical requirements.
The Navy stressed that the recruitment process is completely free, warning applicants against paying money to individuals or agents claiming to have the capacity to facilitate their enlistment.
“Online registration and other recruitment processes are free of charge and no payment should be made at any point to anyone throughout the Exercise,” the Navy stated.
For candidates applying with O’Level qualifications, applicants must be between 18 and 22 years old as of December 31, 2026, and possess at least five credits, including Mathematics and English Language, in not more than two sittings.

Applicants must also meet the prescribed minimum height requirement of 1.69 metres for males and 1.65 metres for females.
The guidelines further require candidates to be medically, psychologically and physically fit and free from previous criminal convictions.
Additional eligibility requirements apply to applicants with OND and NCE qualifications, tradesmen, candidates in medical-related professions and sportsmen and women.
The Navy directed applicants who successfully complete the online registration to print their acknowledgement, parent or guardian consent, Local Government attestation and guarantor’s certification forms.
It said details on the date and venues for the recruitment examination would be communicated to qualified applicants in due course.
The Navy also warned that only one valid application would be accepted from each candidate, stressing that multiple applications would lead to disqualification.
Applicants are equally required to demonstrate basic proficiency in English, with the Navy warning that inability to communicate in the language could result in disqualification at any stage of the recruitment process.
The Navy advised interested Nigerians to consult its official recruitment portal for the full eligibility criteria and application requirements when registration opens on October 2.
