Saudi Airport Attack Leaves 12 Dead, 309 Injured
Twelve people have been killed and 309 others injured in an attack on King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, marking the third reported assault on the facility within a week.
The Saudi Gazette, citing the country’s General Authority of Civil Aviation, reported on Sunday that the latest attack occurred on Saturday, October 10.
The fatalities comprised four Saudi nationals, two Bangladeshis and one national each from the United States, Egypt, Jordan, Syria, Palestine and Sudan.
The aviation authority said all the injured had been evacuated to hospitals for treatment, with some reportedly in critical condition.
It added that the attack damaged airport facilities, while assessments were ongoing to establish the full extent of the destruction.

Airport operations were temporarily suspended following the incident to allow authorities to assess the damage, verify the safety of the facilities and protect passengers, staff and critical aviation infrastructure.
Meanwhile, Reuters reported that Saudi authorities and the Saudi-led coalition had blamed Yemen’s Houthi movement for the attack. However, the group had not claimed responsibility for the October 10 incident as of the time of the report.
The latest assault followed two separate attacks on the airport on Thursday, in which three Saudi nationals were reportedly killed and several others injured, according to an earlier report by the Saudi Gazette, citing the civil aviation authority.
The repeated attacks have raised concerns over the security of critical aviation infrastructure in the kingdom amid escalating hostilities between Saudi Arabia and the Houthis.
