Yushau Shuaib @57: Celebrating a Mentor Who Opens Doors and Transforms Lives
By Hafsat Ibrahim
Sometimes, Allah places certain people in our lives who become instruments of transformation, helping us discover our purpose, recognise our potential, and become the people we are destined to be. These are the people I call career destiny helpers.
In my own journey, one person who stands out remarkably is Alhaji Yusha’u Shuaib.
He is more than a boss to me; he is a father, a mentor, a guide, and, in many ways, a guardian angel Allah has used to shape my journey.
With his guidance and mentorship, I discovered my potential, gained clarity about my purpose, and began to embrace my calling. His influence also marked the beginning of my journey as a TV presenter and inspired me to achieve another milestone by authoring my first book.
He taught me how to write compelling stories, craft engaging articles, and communicate effectively through the power of words. Beyond professional development, he has taught me valuable lessons about balancing my career with family life, a lesson I will forever cherish.

He has opened doors for me, believed in my abilities, encouraged me to grow, and given me opportunities to become better at what I do. Sometimes, we meet people who see possibilities in us even before we fully recognise them ourselves. For me, he is one of those people.
But beyond all the professional lessons, opportunities, and career milestones, there is something even more personal that words can hardly express.
Having lost my father, there are certain spaces in my life that his absence left untouched. In his own unique way, Alhaji Yusha’u Shuaib has helped fill some of those spaces, offering guidance, encouragement, and support that go beyond the boundaries of a professional relationship. This is something I do not take for granted.
I honestly cannot thank him enough. Sometimes, the right words are never enough to express the depth of gratitude we feel towards people who have made significant contributions to our lives. All I can do is continue to appreciate him, pray for him, and strive to make the most of the opportunities and lessons he has given me.
On this special day, I pray that Allah blesses him with long life, sound health, abundant wealth, peace of mind, and countless reasons to smile.
