Troops of the Nigerian Army’s Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Special Intervention Battalion 7, operating under Sector 2 of Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have overrun a suspected Lakurawa terrorist enclave in Waria Forest, Tangaza Local Government Area of Sokoto State, neutralising some terrorists and recovering weapons and five motorcycles.
The operation formed part of ongoing military offensives aimed at dismantling terrorist hideouts and restoring security across Nigeria’s North-West region.
According to the operational account, the troops advanced through identified terrorist threat areas, including Alela, Bilange and Kandam villages, as well as the Waria Forest axis.

The troops reportedly made contact with terrorist elements inside the forest enclave and engaged them with superior firepower, forcing the armed group to abandon its positions and flee deeper into the forest.
The soldiers subsequently pursued the fleeing terrorists and conducted follow-up clearance operations, during which some of the insurgents were neutralised.
The troops also destroyed support structures at the terrorists’ camps, while a search of the surrounding area led to the recovery of weapons and five motorcycles.
The military said troops had maintained a strong operational presence in the area and continued to dominate the surrounding terrain to prevent the terrorists from regrouping and safeguard nearby communities.
The operation underscores the ongoing military campaign to dismantle armed groups’ hideouts and disrupt their activities across the North-West, where security forces continue to conduct offensive and clearance operations.
