Customs Offers Fresh Screening to Aggrieved Recruitment Applicants
The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has opened a fresh screening window for applicants who were disqualified during its recent recruitment exercise, following complaints from candidates who were shortlisted but denied entry into the training college.
The Service said the Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, had directed a case-by-case review of complaints to ensure that legitimate grievances were addressed.
In a statement issued on Monday, the NCS National Public Relations Officer, Abdullahi Maiwada, said affected applicants should submit their details and complaints to [email protected] for consideration.
Maiwada explained that being included on the final shortlist did not automatically guarantee enlistment, as candidates were required to pass several stages of verification and screening.

These include credential and document checks, physical fitness and endurance assessments, medical examinations, age verification, drug screening and other mandatory requirements.
According to the Service, screening identified issues involving 397 applicants, including concerns relating to substance abuse, physical fitness, medical records, age and submitted documents. Some candidates were also disqualified over irregularities identified in their selection process.
The NCS said applicants who use the new window would undergo fresh screening, while those found to have engaged in criminal conduct, including certificate fraud, would be referred for appropriate legal action and prosecution.
It stressed, however, that the review would not amount to a waiver of recruitment requirements or guarantee admission into the training college.
The Service urged aggrieved applicants to provide accurate information through the designated email channel and remain calm while their complaints were examined.
It reaffirmed its commitment to a transparent and credible recruitment process, noting that it would not compromise the standards required of personnel responsible for national security, border protection, revenue collection and public safety.
