PDP Expels Mailantarki, Garry Over Alleged Anti-Party Activities in Gombe
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has announced the expulsion of two of its members in Gombe State, Hon. Khamisu Ahmed Mailantarki and Hon. Usman Aliyu Garry, over alleged anti-party activities, gross misconduct and violations of the party’s constitution.
The decision followed recommendations by the party’s Disciplinary Committee and subsequent consideration by the relevant party organs, in accordance with its established disciplinary procedures.
In a statement signed by the National Publicity Secretary, Hon. Jungudo Haruna Mohammed, the PDP said the affected politicians were found to have engaged in activities inconsistent with the party’s constitution and capable of bringing its image into disrepute.
According to the statement, the disciplinary action was taken pursuant to Sections 57, 58(1) and 59 of the PDP Constitution, as amended in 2017, which outline offences, disciplinary procedures and sanctions against erring members.
The party specifically cited Section 58(1)(a), (b), (h) and (j), maintaining that the conduct of the two politicians constituted breaches warranting their expulsion.

The PDP further maintained that the disciplinary process complied with the principles of fair hearing, as provided under Section 57(6) of its constitution and Section 36 of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, as amended.
It explained that the expulsion, effected under Section 59(1)(j) of the party’s constitution, immediately terminated the membership of Mailantarki and Garry, including all associated rights and privileges.
“Accordingly, by virtue of Section 59(1)(j) of the PDP Constitution, Hon. Khamisu Ahmed Mailantarki and Hon. Usman Aliyu Garry cease to be members of the Peoples Democratic Party and shall have no rights, privileges, or affiliation with the Party at any level,” the statement declared.
The opposition party emphasised that its constitution remained binding on all members, irrespective of their political status or influence, stressing that no individual was above its disciplinary framework.
It reiterated its commitment to internal discipline, accountability and adherence to established party rules, warning that conduct considered detrimental to the organisation would attract appropriate sanctions.
The PDP consequently urged members across the country to remain loyal, disciplined and committed to strengthening the party’s structures and internal cohesion.
The statement did not provide specific details of the alleged anti-party activities or misconduct attributed to the two politicians.
