Niger Governor Urges Students on Academic Excellence
Niger State Governor, Alh. Abubakar Sani Bello has urged students and youth to pay attention to their character and integrity, noting that they would need more than academic excellence to excel in life.
The Governor gave the advise during the 18th Graduation and Prize Giving Day Ceremony of New Horizons College in Minna , the state capital.
Governor Sani Bello commended the efforts of the school management and urged the graduating students to be good ambassadors and portray the good characters their teachers have inculcated in them to enable them pass through life,
“To you graduating students. Academic excellence alone is not enough to put you through life. Your character and integrity is very important.” He said

“The management and staff of New Horizons College did very well to train you. You must ensure that you practice the good morals and characters you have been taught.”
He commended the management of the school for inculcating discipline into the children adding that “there is no doubt that these young boys and girls we are seeing today could become the leaders of tomorrow”.
Governor Sani Bello who used the opportunity to renewed the administration’s commitment to completing ongoing rehabilitation of Minna-Suleja road said:
“ Even though, Minna-Suleja Road is a Federal road (Trunk A), the state government has taken upon itself to fix it, because federal government has no people but state government has people. I know some of you that came by road had a very tough time driving on it, I assure that despite paucity of fund, we are committed to fixing it.”
Also speaking at the ceremony, the former military head of state who was the Chairman of the occasion, Gen. Abdulsalam Abubakar congratulated the graduating students as well as their parents and advised them to be good ambassadors of the institution.
The National President, Islamic Board of Trustee, Sheik Ahmed Lemu has also called on the graduands and all the students of the schools to always put God first in all they do and also be of good behavior wherever they find themselves.
Dignitaries who graced the occasion include former First Lady, Justice Fatima Abubakar, Wife of the Governor, Dr Amina Abubakar Bello, Hajiya Aisha Lemu, Sen. Saidu Dansadau among others.
