Nigeria and Iran are to renew the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on educational collaboration, which they had entered into in 1996.
This was the high point of discussion when the Minister of Education, Malan Adamu Adamu played host to the Iranian Ambassador to Nigeria, His Excellency Morteza Rahimi Zarchi, during a courtesy visit to his office on Monday 24th July, 2017 in Abuja.
The Minister said that the collaboration would further strengthen the bilateral relation between both countries. This is even as he noted that the desire of Iran to establish science and technology- oriented university I the country was a welcome development.
However, he directed the Ambassador to channel the request through the National Universities Commission (NUC), as well as the officials of the Iranian Embassy and relevant department of the ministry to work out the details of the MoU.
Speaking earlier, the Iranian Ambassador, His Excellency Morteza Rahimi Zarchi has sought the review of the MoU between his country and Nigeria in educational exchange programmes, and establishment of a university in Nigeria.
