    Defence Chief Tasks Security Forces on Healthy Synergy

    Nigeria’s Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Christopher Gwabin Musa, OFR, has paid a visit to the headquarters of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) and stressed the need to strengthen synergy among security forces to overcome the country’s quagmire.

     

    General Musa who was accompanied by Departmental heads from the Defence Headquarters (DHQ), while addressing the Commandant General of NSCDC, Dr Ahmed Abubakar Audi, mni, OFR, commended personnel of the Corps for their good conduct, determination and professionalism during security operations.

     

    He explained that while serving as Commander of the Joint Security Taskforce, code-named ‘Operation Hadin Kai,’ he had a personal encounter with operatives of the NSCDC who according to him exhibited a high level of conduct and professionalism saying he has been impressed.

     

    The visit, he maintained is to “show unity, appreciation and commend the NSCDC for the good job it has been doing.”

     

    General Musa encouraged the Corps not to be deterred by the hitches and hazards encountered in the course of discharging its statutory duties of protecting critical national assets and Infrastructure, but rather should, “continue to sustain professionalism and good job.”

     

    He hinted that the President and Commander-in-Chief, His Excellency Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, has always commended the performance and work of the Armed Forces of Nigeria and vowed that “since criminals have resolved not to rescind from their acts, we will not relent.”

     

    The 18th CDS who was first to pay a visit to NSCDC, pledged his continuous synergy with the Corps, assuring of his support in training among other areas of interest.

    He applauded the President for approving the Defence Industry’s Corporation of Nigeria (DICON) Bill to enable the Corporation to partner with other countries in the production of military wares to ensure central control.

     

    Responding, Commandant General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Ahmed Abubakar Audi, PhD, mni, OFR, welcomed the CDS and members of his entourage to the National Headquarters of the Corps.

     

    He explained that the Corps leverages training,  some of which is given to it by the military to make the personnel productive and pledged to continue to collaborate with the military and other security agencies.

     

    According to the NSCDC helmsman, “NSCDC will Always go to the military for training on professional competence. Our Special Force and Special Female Squad were trained by the military.”

     

    The CG commended the Armed Forces for participating in Internal Security operations, saying it has helped tremendously in degrading some criminal elements.

     

    He applauded the decision on the production of wares, describing it as innovative and pledged the readiness of the Corps to key into the government’s policy on the supply of uniforms and accoutrements.

     

    Dr Audi also informed the CDS of the Safe Schools Project as part of Critical National Assets and Infrastructure which he explained has been taken far by the Corps and disclosed that it had assisted in thwarting abduction and kidnap at Federal University, Dutsinma, Katsina State.

     

    To enhance the desired success of the project, the CG also solicited the support of the military whom he said have been of tremendous assistance in foiling some kidnap attempts in some schools.

     

    Other highlights of the visit were the inspection of the Quarter Guard by the CDS and a visit to the National Safe Schools Response Coordination Centre (NSSRCC) during which the CG permitted the Commander of NSSRCC, CSC Tersoo Shaapera, PhD to interface with the DHQ team.
