Oyo Chief Judge Frees 84 Inmates from Agodi Prison

84 Awaiting Trial Inmates from Agodi Prison in Ibadan, Oyo State were set free during the periodical jail delivery headed by Oyo State Chief Judge, Honorable Justice Muktar Abimbola.

He stressed the menace of congestion and challenges of treatment of communicable diseases in such conditions.

The Chief Judge, who maintained other statutory functions as the reasons for his infrequent visits however promised more appearances.

In a breakdown of the 84 Inmates set free, he said the number of people released for having stayed too long and on compassionate ground were 67 while 10 were told to go home on health ground. The remaining 7 were freed by legal advice from the Department of Public Prosecution.

He said the exercise continues tomorrow at Abolongo, Oyo Prison where he is also expected to extend the prerogative of mercy to inmates in same conditions. He further admonishes the freed inmates to go and sin no more while advising them to be careful of the friends they keep.
