2024 Hajj: NAHCON Boss Bids Farewell to First Batch of Pilgrims in Kebbi

The Chairman and CEO of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON), Jalal Ahmad Arabi, addressed the 2024 Hajj inaugural flight ceremony on May 15, 2024, in Birnin-Kebbi, Kebbi State.

Arabi expressed gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for entrusting him with the leadership responsibility of NAHCON, acknowledging the challenges of organizing the Hajj pilgrimage for over 95,000 Nigerians. He praised the strong support from the Presidency, particularly Vice President Kashim Shettima, for addressing challenges and setting high standards for the Commission.

Arabi highlighted the efforts of the Fifth Board of NAHCON to reduce the 2024 Hajj fare, despite challenges, by negotiating lower accommodation fees and reducing the length of stay in Madinah. He also commended the Commission’s staff for their dedication and hard work in ensuring a well-organized Hajj season.

The Chairman emphasized the importance of proper management in the Hajj industry, citing its potential for wealth creation and financial autonomy. He expressed determination to explore revenue-generating ventures, building on the Commission’s achievements in self-sustainability since 2016.

Arabi congratulated the pilgrims and urged them to utilize the privilege to serve Allah alone, avoid distractions, and comply with Saudi Arabian laws and health regulations. He acknowledged the collaboration of stakeholders, particularly the States’ Pilgrims’ Welfare Boards/Agencies/Commissions, and thanked Kebbi State Governor, Comrade Dr. Nasir Idris, for facilitating the inaugural flight.

The Chairman also expressed gratitude to President Tinubu and Vice President Shettima for their support and guidance, ensuring the success of the 2024 Hajj. He concluded by urging pilgrims to pray for Nigeria, its leaders, and the well-being of its citizens.

The ceremony marked the commencement of the 2024 Hajj season, with NAHCON aiming to provide a well-organized and successful pilgrimage for Nigerian Muslims.
