Arewa Star Awardee Selected for Washington Fellowship
An Arewa Star Awardee, Maryam Abass Bichi has been selected for Mandela Washington Fellowship.
Maryam Abass won the Arewa Star Award and conference award during the 2022 edition.
Maryam will this year be participating in the coveted and highly revered Nelson Mandela Washington Fellowship in the US.
She was selected for leadership in Business track at the University of Iowa.
The Mandela Washington Fellowship for Young African Leaders is the flagship program of the U.S. Government’s Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI).

Established in 2014, the Fellowship is celebrating its tenth anniversary in 2024 and has brought nearly 6,500 young leaders from every country in Sub-Saharan Africa to the United States for academic and leadership training. The Fellows, between the ages of 25 and 35, are accomplished innovators and leaders in their communities and countries.
Similarly, Arew Star Award is an annual event organised by Arewa Agenda, a publication of Image Merchants Promotion Limited (IMPR) – publishers of PRNigeria and other titles in collaboration with Daily Nigerian.
It is designed mainly to honor 30 under 30 youngsters for their outstanding success in various areas which include innovation, arts, technology, sports, entertainment, activism, humanitarian work, social media impact etc.
