Mandela Day: MWFAAN Set to Celebrate 10-year Fellowship Anniversary, Announces Conference on AfCFTA

The Mandela Washington Fellowship Alumni Association of Nigeria (MWFAAN) is set to commemorate her 10-year anniversary with the MWF at 10 Legacy Conference which will focus on African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) and Agenda 2063

This event themed, “10 Years of Cultivating Young African Leaders: Shaping Africa’s Future with AfCFTA & Agenda 2063” will take place on October 25, 2024 at the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.

The announcement which is in commemoration of this year’s Mandela Day, was contained in press release signed by the association’s president, Farida Yahya on Thursday.

According to the statement, the Legacy Conference presents an opportunity to strategise and collaborate on how to harness the potential of young leaders to drive economic growth and sustainable development across Africa

“In its continuous effort to empower youth leadership and drive sustainable development across Africa, the Mandela Washington Fellowship Alumni Association of Nigeria (MWFAAN) is set to celebrate the ‘MWF at 10 Commemoration Event’. This event will mark decades of cultivating young African leaders through the Mandela Washington Fellowship Programme.

“The one-day conference, themed ’10 Years of Cultivating Young African Leaders: Shaping Africa’s Future with AfCFTA & Agenda 2063,’ aims to highlight the crucial role of youth leadership in driving economic growth and sustainable development across the African continent.

“It will serve as a platform for young African leaders, policymakers, and stakeholders to engage in meaningful discussions on the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), Agenda 2063, and the future of youth leadership in Africa,’ the statement reads in part.

The event will feature a keynote address by distinguished African leaders, engaging discussions on AfCFTA, Agenda 2063, and youth leadership development, networking opportunities for young African leaders from across the continent.

It will also recognise outstanding Mandela Washington Fellowship alumni, and a showcase of the MWF at 10 Documentary, launch of the MWF at 10 Free Trade Zone Web App to connect Mandela Washington Fellows across Africa and explore trade opportunities within the AfCFTA.
