Arewa Broadcasters Concerned Over Nigeria’s Economic and Security Crises
The Arewa Broadcast Media Practitioners’ Forum (ABMPF) has expressed deep concern over the escalating hardship faced by Nigerians due to the hike in petroleum products and the skyrocketing costs of goods and services.
In a press statement, the forum urged the government to allow the Dangote Refinery to operate independently, determining petroleum prices without interference from the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL). This, they believe, will promote competition and stabilize the market.
The forum also condemned the rising insecurity in the North and Central regions, where banditry and kidnapping have ravaged agrarian communities. They called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to address these social upheavals by demonstrating good governance.
The ABMPF demanded immediate action from the government, including:

– Taking the war to the doorsteps of terrorists in the North and Central parts of Nigeria and liberating agrarian communities from the shackles of terrorists and kidnappings.
The forum emphasized that the welfare of Nigerians, particularly ordinary citizens and workers, must be prioritized, and urged governments at all levels to take decisive action to alleviate their suffering.
The statement was signed by Abdullahi I Yelwa, Chairman of the Arewa Broadcast Media Practitioners’ Forum.
