AKEV Provides Scholarships for Housewives in Kano- Dr Ayuba Ahmad
The Aminu Kano Education Village, AKEV has introduced a special scholarship scheme for housewives who are desirous of pursuing higher education in its institution of learning.
The Founder and Proprietor of AKEV, Dr Ayuba Ahmad Mohammed made the disclosure while receiving an Award of Excellence on Youth Development from and scholarship at a ceremony in Kano.
Speaking at the occasion, Dr. Ayuba said “In Northern Nigeria, especially in Kano many married women could not pursuing further studies after obtaining secondary school certificates due to economic and societal factors
“We at Aminu Kano Education Village, AKEV, have initiated programmes that would encourage housewives with good secondary school certificates to pursue a special programme in our school or other institutions with a special scholarship.
“We strongly believe that some intelligent housewives if allowed to have additional qualifications, they can contribute positively to national development as mothers.
“We have also instituted similar scholarship to the less privileged members of our community, including orphans and those with special needs.”

Dr. Ayuba Ahmad Muhammad a 1992 graduate of Political Science from the Bayero University Kano BUK92 was honoured by Salka Media Services and Communication, a publishing firm for his contributions to women empowerment, youth’s development and scholarship.
With a Master’s Degree from Ahmadu Bello University Zaria and further studies at Utara University Malaysia before obtaining PhD in Entrepreneurship from ESPAM Formation University, Benin Republic, Ayuba was a former Lecturer at Kano State Polytechnic 1995-2000.
Between 2000 and 2010, Dr. Ayuba had worked at managerial positions in some financial institutions including Bank of the North, Unity Bank and First City Monument Bank (FCMB) before venturing into Consultancy services.
He was Chief Consultant, Triumph Resources Management Consultant and Founder Aminu Kano Education Village, AKEV a private institute offering National Certificate of Education and Post-Graduate Diploma in Education Programmes in Kano.
AKEV operates under the auspices of the National Teachers’ Institute, which is statutorily empowered by Act No. 7 of 1978 to upgrade the profesional practice teachers nationwide.
AKEV was established to complement the efforts of government in providing access to education due to limited spaces in public higher institutions in the face of a growing population. The school also Provides flexible payment of school fees and encourage part- time program to enable working class and even traders have acquired education not just the certificate.
