PRNigeria Communication Fellowship: A Spectacular CSR Game-Changer

By Usman Muhammad Salihu

The PRNigeria Young Communication Fellowship redefines corporate social responsibility (CSR). It equips young graduates with essential skills, practical knowledge, and valuable networks.

This initiative reflects PRNigeria’s dedication to professional growth and societal development. Mallam Yushau Shuaib, the Chief Executive Officer of Image Merchants Promotion Limited (IMPR), publishers of PRNigeria and Economic Confidential, described the fellowship as transformative.

He said it bridges the gap between classroom learning and real-world challenges. “The fellowship equips graduates with the skills and tools for successful careers in communication,” Shuaib stated.

Shuaib spoke during the visit of Sanusi Bature, spokesperson for the Kano State Governor, to the PRNigeria Centre in Ilorin, Kwara State. He explained the program’s structure. It trains 30 graduates across three centers in Abuja, Ilorin, and Kano, with 10 participants at each center.

The Abuja cohort had remarkable hands-on experiences. They visited media organizations like Daily Trust, Wonderland TV, Voice of Nigeria, and NTA. They also attended a press conference by the Nigeria Customs Service in Gwagwalada.

This exposure helped them see strategic communication in practice. Workshops and lectures by seasoned professionals were another highlight. Topics included investigative journalism, fact-checking, social media, strategic communication, multimedia journalism, and AI in communication.

These sessions equipped fellows with industry-relevant skills. Practical training was a core part of the program. “The goal is to empower youth with strategic communication skills,” Shuaib said. “It prepares them to be self-reliant and entrepreneurial.”

Participants shared their experiences. One said, “The fellowship has been life-changing. Visits to media houses and sessions with experts gave us invaluable real-world insights.” The PRNigeria Fellowship demonstrates how CSR can address societal challenges.

It empowers young talents and strengthens the communication sector. PRNigeria’s investment in people contributes to individual success and national progress. This initiative highlights the role of corporate organizations in creating sustainable growth.

It shows how talent development builds a better society.
