Kano State Enrolls Inmates in Healthcare Contributory Scheme
The Kano State Government has announced the enrollment of inmates in the state’s Healthcare Contributory Scheme. This initiative, approved by Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, will provide inmates with free access to basic and comprehensive healthcare services while in custody.
The move underscores the state government’s commitment to the health and medical welfare of inmates, recognizing its importance for efficient custodial management and the effective reformation, rehabilitation, and reintegration of individuals back into society.

Dr. Rahila Aliyu Muktar, Executive Secretary of the Kano State Contributory Healthcare Management Agency (KACHMA), conveyed this information during a visit to the Controller of Corrections, Kano State Command, Ado Inuwa. Dr. Muktar assured the Controller of the state government’s unwavering support for the medical well-being of all inmates.
She urged inmates to continue praying for Governor Yusuf and his administration to continue delivering the dividends of democracy to all citizens.
Controller Inuwa expressed his gratitude to the state government for its consistent support and assistance to the correctional command. He emphasized that this initiative will serve as a significant motivation for inmates to become productive and law-abiding citizens upon their release.
