Police Raid Illegal Arms Factory in Benue, Arrest Cultist in Delta, 2 for Murder in Kebbi
In a series of successful sting operations aimed at curbing crime and enhancing national security, operatives of the Nigeria Police Force have dismantled an illegal weapons manufacturing factory in Benue State, arrested a suspected cultist in Delta State, and apprehended two individuals for murder in Kebbi State.
The operations, carried out on January 11, 2025, led to the arrest of two suspects in Benue: Friday Aduduakambe and Iorwashima Iornyume, also known as “AK,” aged 35. The factory, located in Tse Akamabe, Kwande Local Government Area, was found to contain nine locally fabricated pistols, an unfinished locally made AK-47 rifle, two gas cylinders, four vise machines, a filing machine, and other weapons manufacturing tools.

Similarly, police operatives in Delta State, acting on credible intelligence, raided the residence of Prosper Akeni, a 32-year-old suspected hitman of the Eiye Confraternity. The raid in the DSC area resulted in the recovery of one English revolver pistol, one Beretta pistol, two locally made double-barrel guns, two locally made single-barrel guns, one locally made revolver pistol, one locally made single-barrel pistol, and 25 rounds of ammunition. Akeni reportedly confessed that the firearms belonged to his cult group and that he was safeguarding them as a leader within the fraternity.
In Kebbi State, police operatives arrested Yunusa Haruna, a 25-year-old resident of Bakin Turu Village in Shanga LGA, on December 31, 2024, for allegedly stabbing his elder brother, Isiyaku Haruna, in the chest, resulting in his death. Another suspect, Abubakar Ummar, was apprehended in Zuru Village on January 8, 2025, after fatally stabbing Mohammed Bala during an argument.
Commending the operatives for their efforts, the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, reaffirmed the commitment of the Force to tackling crime and restoring peace across the country. He urged citizens to remain vigilant and collaborate with the police by providing useful intelligence to strengthen community policing.
These operations mark another milestone in the Nigeria Police Force’s ongoing fight against crime and criminal activities nationwide.
