NIPR Begins Construction of Secretariat, TV Station, University Office

The Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) has taken a significant step toward enhancing its operations with the commencement of the construction of its new National Secretariat, NIPR House, in Abuja.

Slated for completion by December 2025, the ultra-modern facility will include the NIPR National Secretariat, the NIPR Television station, and the Abuja liaison office for the proposed University of Public Relations and Leadership.

The university project is backed by the Global Alliance for Public Relations and Communication Management, signaling a groundbreaking advancement for public relations education in Nigeria.

The new NIPR House is strategically located within the Radio House complex in Abuja’s Central Business District, home to the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN) headquarters and the office of the Minister of Information and National Orientation.

At the virtual inauguration of the task team overseeing the project, NIPR President and Chairman of Council, Dr. Ike Neliaku, described the initiative as a historic milestone.

“This is a rare opportunity to leave a lasting legacy for the NIPR. I am confident this team will deliver a landmark headquarters that reflects the Institute’s high standards and values,” he stated.

The task team is led by NIPR Vice President, Professor Emmanuel Dandaura, who pledged his team’s commitment to delivering a state-of-the-art facility. “This headquarters will symbolize the professionalism and excellence the NIPR is known for,” he said.

The project will officially kick off with a flag-off ceremony, led by the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Alhaji Mohammed Idris, in the last week of January 2025.

Dr. Neliaku acknowledged the Minister for championing the initiative and expressed gratitude to the FRCN Director-General, Dr. Mohammed Balama, and technical partners Mesotho Group of Companies and SNECOU Group for their support.

The task team comprises accomplished individuals, including Mrs. Olubunmi Badejo, Mallam Bashir Chedi, Hajiya Maryam Sanusi, Comrade Ini Ememobong, and Dr. Suleiman Haruna, along with representatives from the FRCN and SNECOU Group.

The NIPR House, once completed, is expected to serve as a beacon of professionalism, innovation, and leadership, enhancing the Institute’s operations and public relations practice in Nigeria.
