Police Foil Bandit Attacks in Kogi, Katsina, Rescue 207 Abducted Children in Anti-Trafficking Operations

The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has recorded major successes in its fight against crime, thwarting multiple bandit attacks across different states and intensifying its crackdown on human trafficking syndicates.

The Force Public Relations Officer, FPRO, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi disclosed this information in a statement issued to newsmen in Abuja today.

According to him,in a series of intelligence-led operations, police operatives neutralized armed threats, recovered sophisticated weapons, and rescued 207 abducted children from suspected traffickers nationwide.

“On January 18, 2025, operatives of the Kogi State Police Command acted on intelligence that a group of armed bandits was holding a strategic meeting at a forest in Budon, Kogi State, to plan an attack.

“Security forces swiftly mobilized and stormed the location, engaging the criminals in a fierce gun battle. One bandit was neutralized, while four others were apprehended. The operatives also recovered an AK-47 rifle, two magazines, 30 rounds of live ammunition, and two motorcycles from the scene.

“In a related development on the same day, the Katsina State Police Command responded to a distress call about suspected bandits heading towards Ruwan Doruwa Village in Dutsinma Local Government Area for an attack. Police operatives, in collaboration with other security agencies, intercepted the armed criminals and engaged them in a gunfight, leading to the neutralization of seven bandits. The remaining attackers fled, abandoning 109 rustled livestock,” he said.

The FPRO added that, in another significant breakthrough against human trafficking, the Ondo State Police Command dismantled a child abduction syndicate in Akure.

“Acting on intelligence about a missing child in Okuta Elerin-Nla, police operatives arrested three suspects: Abosede Olanipekun (female), Lukman Isiaka (male), and Sabira Izuorah (female). During the operation, 14 children aged between one week and seven years were rescued.” He added.

Meanwhile, the Nigeria Police Force has reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding lives and property, vowing to sustain its crackdown on criminal activities and bring perpetrators to justice.

However, the recent successes underscore the effectiveness of intelligence-driven policing and the Force’s dedication to ensuring national security as stated by the FPRO.
