Kano Police Command Arrests 23 Suspects in Major Crackdown on Criminal Activities
The Kano State Police Command has made significant progress in its fight against crime, arresting 23 suspects in connection with kidnapping, armed robbery, and other criminal activities across the state. This was disclosed by the Commissioner of Police, CP Salman Dogo Garba, during a press briefing at the Bompai Police Headquarters.
He stated that one of the major breakthroughs was the arrest of three suspects involved in the kidnapping and subsequent murder of 64-year-old Alhaji Atiku Mu’azu.
“The victim, a resident of Janbulo Quarters, was abducted on January 8, 2025, with the kidnappers demanding a ransom of ₦20 million for his release.

“Following intelligence-led operations, the police apprehended the following suspects including Abubakar Hassan (aka Captain, 33) who was the mastermind behind the abduction and murder; Adamu Abubakar Adam (29) who received ₦2 million from the ransom; and Alhaji Hamisu (aka Bakin Bross, 34) who provided the hideout where the victim was held hostage,” CP Dogo said.
Also, on January 26, 2025, a group of armed men stormed the residence of Alhaji Auwalu in Sabuwar Unguwa Garo, Kabo LGA, robbing him of ₦8 million and abducting his 16-year-old daughter, Zainab Aliyu. The police have launched a full-scale investigation and are making efforts to rescue the victim.
The Commissioner added that in a separate operation, the police arrested 17 suspected armed robbers who terrorized residents of Hotoro and Kawo Quarters, breaking into shops and vandalizing vehicles. Additionally, three more suspects were caught after attacking two victims and stealing 200 mobile phones in Yankatsari Quarters. Seven mobile phones and dangerous weapons were recovered during the raid.
CP Salman Dogo Garba urged Kano residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the police. He assured the public of the command’s commitment to maintaining peace and security.
