Nigeria Police Intensify Crackdown on Organized Crime, Rescue Victims in Kaduna and Ogun States
In a significant move to bolster national security and reduce criminal activities, the Nigeria Police Force has ramped up its efforts to combat organized crime, particularly human trafficking and kidnapping. Recent operations in Kaduna and Ogun States have led to the arrest of suspects, the rescue of victims, and the recovery of weapons and stolen property.
On January 31, 2025, at approximately 7 p.m., police operatives in Kaduna State apprehended three individuals suspected of human trafficking. The suspects, identified as Samson Peter (25), Haruna Duniya (45), and Abdulazaq Olawole (58), were intercepted while transporting 13 victims in an unmarked vehicle en route to Oyo State. The victims were successfully rescued, and an investigation into the case is ongoing.

In a separate operation on January 29, 2025, the Ogun State Police Command conducted a covert mission to locate a kidnappers’ den linked to an abduction reported on January 25. Upon encountering the police, the kidnappers engaged in a gunfight, resulting in the neutralization of five gang members. The operation led to the rescue of three kidnapped victims and the recovery of several items, including firearms, ammunition, three mobile phones, and N5.2 million in cash. The victims’ vehicles were also retrieved.
Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun praised the operatives for their bravery, dedication, and patriotism. He urged all police officers to remain steadfast in their mission to restore peace and reassured the public of the Force’s commitment to tackling security threats effectively.
These operations are part of the Nigeria Police Force’s broader action plan for 2025, aimed at curbing crimes and ensuring the safety of citizens. The IGP emphasized that the Force will continue to prioritize the fight against organized crime and other security challenges across the nation.
ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the Force Public Relations Officer, confirmed the details of the operations in a statement released on February 2, 2025.
