Saudi Arabia Stands Firm on Palestinian Statehood, Rights, and Arab Solidarity

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has reiterated its steadfast and unwavering position on the establishment of an independent Palestinian state, emphasizing that this stance is non-negotiable and not subject to compromise. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement today reaffirming the Kingdom’s commitment to the Palestinian cause, including the establishment of a Palestinian state based on the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital.

The Kingdom’s position was clearly articulated by His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, during his address at the opening of the first session of the ninth term of the Shura Council on September 18, 2024. In his speech, HRH the Crown Prince emphasized that Saudi Arabia will continue its relentless efforts to achieve Palestinian statehood and will not establish diplomatic relations with Israel without the establishment of an independent Palestinian state.

HRH the Crown Prince reiterated this firm stance during the extraordinary Arab-Islamic Summit held in Riyadh on November 11, 2024. He called for an end to the Israeli occupation of Palestinian lands and urged the international community to recognize the State of Palestine. He also stressed the importance of mobilizing global support for the Palestinian people’s rights, as outlined in United Nations General Assembly resolutions, and reaffirmed Palestine’s eligibility for full membership in the United Nations.

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia also expressed its unequivocal rejection of any infringement on the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, including Israeli settlement policies, land annexation, and attempts to displace Palestinians from their land. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized that the international community has a moral obligation to address the severe humanitarian suffering endured by the Palestinian people, who remain steadfast in their determination to stay on their land.

The statement underscored that achieving lasting and just peace in the region is impossible without the Palestinian people obtaining their legitimate rights in accordance with international resolutions. This position has been consistently communicated to both former and current U.S. administrations, reflecting the Kingdom’s commitment to a principled and just approach to the Palestinian issue.

Saudi Arabia’s unwavering support for the Palestinian cause remains a cornerstone of its foreign policy, and the Kingdom continues to call on peace-loving nations to recognize the State of Palestine and support its people’s right to self-determination.
