FCT Police Command Sustains Assaults on Criminals
The proactive security measures put in place by the FCT Police Command to beef up security and fight crime in the Federal Capital Territory has continued to yield positive result.
It is therefore pertinent to reassure members of the public that the Command has intensified its onslaught against criminals through constant raid of identified criminal hideouts, strategic deployment of uniform and plain clothe police operatives, surprise stop and search and the adoption of foot and vehicular patrols. This measures have contributed greatly to the successes the Command has recorded in its fight against crime.
On behalf of the Commissioner of Police FCT, may I seize this medium to express our profound appreciation to FCT residents who have been supporting the Command with information. Since security is a collective responsibility, we are seeking for more of such partnership and collaboration.
Below are some notable achievements recorded by the Command in its fight against crime in the last few weeks:-
ARREST OF SUSPECTS/ RECOVERY OF BAGS OF DRIED LEAVES SUSPECTED TO BE INDIAN HEMP
On 17th September 2018 at about 0200hrs Police operatives from Lugbe Division during the raid of a notorious criminal hideout at Tudun Wada Lugbe recovered sixteen and a half bags of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp from a warehouse in the area. Two suspects, Adamu Jauro Bello ‘m’ 28 years and Sefullah Umar ‘m’ 20 years were also arrested in the warehouse. Other exhibits recovered from the scene include:  two dagger, 4 bottles of codeine syrup, tramadol tablets, and Valium 5 tablets. Meanwhile, effort has been intensified to arrest the principal suspects who is presently at large. Investigation is on-going and suspects will be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigation.
ARREST OF ARMED ROBBERY/RECOVERY OF EXHIBITS
On 23rd of September, 2018 at about 0154hrs Police operatives on stop and search duty at Games village arrested one Peter Chukwu in possession of a live cartridge. The suspect during interrogation led the team of police detectives to a hideout at area1 where a locally made rifle was recovered and eight other members of his gang were also arrested, including the receiver of phones robbed by the syndication. This notorious gang specialise in using dangerous weapons to rob their victims of phones, cash and other valuables.  The suspects arrested are: Peter Chukura ‘m’ 25 years, Abdullahi Isiaka ‘m’ 29 years (owner of gun), Abu Awal ‘m’ 26 years (receiver), Victor Orji ‘m’ 27 years, Muhammed Yahuza ‘m’ 24 years, Mathew Awoba ‘m’ 24 years, Hamza Mohammed ‘m’ 23 years, Patrick Eze ‘m’ 20 years and Julius Peter ‘m’ 28 years all of no fixed address. Other exhibits recovered from the suspects include: one knife, one bullet proof vest containing charms, one iPhone 8 phone and one Alcatel phone.   The suspects will be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigation.
ARREST OF ARMED ROBBERY SUSPECT/
RECOVERY OF FIREARM
On 16 September, 2018 at about 2200hrs police operative on stop and search duty at Shoprite junction Apo arrested one Lawal Adama ‘m’ at the location for being in possession of a locally made single barrel pistol with three (3) rounds of live cartridges. He is suspected to be a member of an armed robbery gang. The suspect will be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigation.
On 18th September, 2018 at 12noon based on information, Police operatives arrested one Tunde Adeboye 24 years old at Deidei Filin Dabo in possession of a locally made pistol, one live cartridge, one axe, one knife, one dagger, charms and a black handkerchief. The suspect also led the team of investigators to the arrest of his cohort one Isa Kasimu 22 years at Deidei Bakusa. The suspects will be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigation.
ARREST OF PHONE SNATCHERS/RECOVERY OF EXHIBITS
On 13th September, 2018 at 2200hrs some good Samaritans arrested one Abdulwahab Ibrahim ‘m’ 23 years old and handed him over to Dutse Alhaji Police Division for stabbing and snatching one infinix phone from one Adams Dennis at Dutse Bafuma. Following his arrest, Police detectives immediately launched a discreet investigation that led to the arrest of two of his cohorts, Ibrahim Farouk ‘m’ 20 years old and Usman Oladele 18 years old. While Ibrahim Farouk was arrested by police detectives at his Zuba hide-out, Usman Oladele was arrested during a robbery operation by Police patrol team at Dutse Zone 7 in possession of a knife.  Meanwhile, effort has been intensified to recover the robbed phone and arrest the fleeing member of the gang.
Similarly, on 21/09/2018 at about 0115hrs Police operatives arrested one Paul Enenche ‘m’ 25 years old for attacking two ladies with cutlass and robbing them of a bag containing the cash sum of N20,000 and an Itel phone. Effort is being intensified to arrest his cohort and recover the victim’s bag. The suspect will be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigation.
On 11th September, 2018 at about 2130, Police operatives arrested one Kelvin Nnamdi ‘m’ 27 years and Reuben Adaan ‘m’ 23 years for robbing a tricycle passenger of her phone at Apo. One of the suspects was arrested by the police patrol team at the scene of a tricycle accident, caused by the suspects while trying to rob their victim. His cohort, Kelvin Nnamdi, was however arrested at his Apo hideout during police investigation. The suspects normally pose as passengers to attack and rob tricycle (Keke Napep) commuters and riders of their valuables. Effort is being intensified to recover the victim’s phone. The suspects will be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigation.
ARREST OF CAR SNATCHERS/RECOVERY OF EXHIBITS
Following a reported case of a car snatched at gunpoint on 12th February, 2018 at Lugbe, Police operatives from Lugbe Division have arrested members of the notorious car snatching syndicate and recovered the snatched Opel car with reg. no.: BLD 176 XA. Upon discreet investigation, the suspects were track down to their hideout at Angulu-Jos in Plateau State where they were arrested on 17th September, 2018. The suspects arrested are: Sadisu Mohammed ‘m’ 32 years, Lawal Adamu ‘m’ 31 years and Yusuf Saleh ‘m’ 31 years. Effort has been intensified to recover the firearm used by the gang for their robbery operations. The suspects will be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigation.
ARREST OF SUSPECT WITH FAKE CURRENCIES/RECOVERY OF EXHIBITS
On 18 September, 2018 at about 1000hrs, acting on tip-off Police operatives arrested one Idowu Gafar ‘m’ 29 years at Lugbe for being in possession of fake currencies, and was trying to use same to do point of sale (POS) transfer. He was however exposed when the POS operator raised an alarm after she realised that the said currencies were fake. Upon his arrest, fourteen pieces of fake one thousand naira notes were recovered from the suspect as exhibits.
Similarly, on 10th September, 2018 police operatives acting on tip-off arrested one Abubakar Adamu at Gwarinpa for being in possession of thirty-seven (37) pieces of fake one thousand naira notes. The suspects will be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigation.
ARREST OF SUSPECTED HOUSE BREAKER/ RECOVERY OF EXHIBITS
On 22 September, 2018 at about 0130hrs Police Patrol Team on duty along Anagada village arrested one Augustine Silas  22yrs and one Paul Christopher 18yrs  all of Anagada Village while trying to break into the premises of a bakery in the area. Two sharp cutlasses, one hammer and other house breaking implements were recovered from them as exhibits. The suspects will be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigation.
