CP Moshood Jimoh, Award-Winning PR Professional, Appointed Lagos Commissioner of Police

The Police Service Commission (PSC) has announced the appointment of Olohundare Moshood Jimoh as the new Commissioner of Police for Lagos State Command. The announcement was made in a statement issued by the PSC Spokesperson, Ikechukwu Ani.

CP Moshood Jimoh, a distinguished officer with a remarkable career in law enforcement, is also a celebrated public relations professional. He was honored with the Presidential Award for Public Relations Personality of the Year by the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) in recognition of his exceptional contributions to the field and his outstanding leadership qualities.

The statement revealed that CP Jimoh’s appointment was finalized after he appeared before the Commission, chaired by DIG Hashimu Argungu (rtd) mni, alongside other high-ranking officials, including Justice Adamu Paul Galmuje (rtd), a former Supreme Court Justice, and DIG Taiwo Lakanu, fdc, who represents the Police on the Commission.

In his remarks, the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, charged CP Jimoh to uphold the rule of law, maintain operational excellence, and lead with integrity in his new role. The IGP emphasized the importance of discipline, proactive strategies, and community engagement in ensuring the safety and security of Lagos residents.

According to a statement by the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, CP Jimoh’s redeployment is part of a strategic initiative to strengthen internal security and enhance operational effectiveness in Lagos State. The statement further highlighted that his appointment is expected to improve coordination among police units, foster stronger community relations, and uphold the highest standards of professionalism.

CP Moshood Jimoh, a native of the Ilorin Emirate in Kwara State, brings a wealth of experience to his new role. He has previously served in several key positions, including Force Public Relations Officer, Deputy Commissioner of Police for Airport Police, Deputy Commissioner for Finance and Administration, Deputy Commissioner for General Investigations, and Commissioner of Police for Ports Authority, Eastern Ports.

His extensive professional training includes courses in Combat Operations at the Mobile Training College in Maiduguri, African Union Mission in Darfur (Sudan), Weapons of Mass Destruction Countermeasure First Responder Training in the United States, and specialized programs in China, such as Social Construction and Management Reform at the China Executive Leadership Academy in Pudong, Maritime Rescue and Salvage at the China Maritime Academy in Ningbo, and Anti-Hijacking Techniques and Tactics at the Yunnan Police College in Kunming. He also underwent training at the Police Training Institute in Seoul, South Korea.

With his impressive background in crisis communication, administration, public relations, and operational expertise, CP Moshood Jimoh is uniquely positioned to lead the Lagos State Police Command. His appointment is widely seen as a step toward enhancing security and fostering trust between the police and the community in Lagos State.
