NIPR Announces Panels, Categories for 5th National Spokespersons’ Awards

The Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) has officially endorsed 22 award categories for the upcoming 5th edition of the National Spokespersons’ Awards.

This prestigious event, organized in collaboration with Image Merchants Promotion Ltd, the publishers of PRNigeria, Economic Confidential, and Spokespersons’ Digest, seeks to honor exceptional spokespersons who have demonstrated excellence in strategic communication, public engagement, and reputation management.

In preparation for the awards, NIPR has reconstituted the two vital committees for the annual event.

The Coordinating Committee is chaired by Olusegun Mcmedal, the former NIPR Lagos State Chapter Chairman, with Comptroller Joseph Attah (Rtd) as Vice Chairman. Members include Mohammed Dahiru Lawal, Saad Shuiab, Ikalone Udo, and Mr. Stanley Ogadigo serving as Secretary.

The Adjudication Committee is Led by Dr. Shuaibu Husseini, mnipr, Executive Director/CEO of the National Film and Video Censors Board, with Prof. Anthony Igyuve as Vice Chairman. Additional members include Prof. Saudat Abdulbaqi, Hajia Lami Tumaka, Kabir Abdulsalam, Ishola Ayodele, and Abdulrahman Abdulraheem, who serves as Member/Secretary.

The Vice President of the institute, Professor Emmanuel Dandaura said the awards aim to celebrate spokespersons who have exhibited outstanding communication skills, public engagement, and leadership qualities, serving as role models for aspiring practitioners.

Award categories will recognize achievements across various sectors, including Crisis Communication, Corporate Communications, Banking, Insurance, Digital Economy, Power, Security Services, Public Sector, Health, Hospitality, Marine and Blue Economy, Education, Multinationals, and Oil & Gas among others.

Mr. Segun Mcmedal, the Coordinating Chairman, emphasized that the awards are designed to foster creativity, inclusivity, and measurable impact in public communication and reputation management.

The event is a part of the National Spokespersons Summit, scheduled to take place from April 14th to 17th, 2025, at the Abuja Continental Hotel, FCT.

The Awards Gala, set for Wednesday, April 16th, 2025, will feature a red carpet at 5:00 p.m., followed by an evening of celebration, elegance, and excellence.

The award initiative follows a landmark agreement between NIPR and Image Merchants Promotion Limited (IMPR) to transition the annual Spokespersons’ Communication Awards introduced in 2021.
