Nigerian Army to Introduce Commuter Buses for Troops in Lagos
The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, has announced the introduction of welfare buses to convey troops to and from their places of work within the Lagos metropolis.
This, he said is part of the Nigerian Army new welfare initiative aimed at enhancing the quality of life for its personnel in Lagos.
This development is part of the COAS’s commitment to ensuring that troops have remarkable years in service and befitting post-service years.
General Oluyede noted that the Nigerian Army is determined to make service years exceptionally bearable for soldiers.

“We are fully committed to making life better for our personnel and their families,” General Oluyede said.
“The welfare buses are just one aspect of our comprehensive welfare package designed to support our troops.”
Other initiatives announced by the COAS include dAffordable housing schemes for soldiers; A welfare loan scheme to support troops in undertaking personal projects; Provision of adequate uniforms and military kits and Increment in troops’ ration cash allowance
General Oluyede urged troops to remain focused on their constitutional responsibility of defending the nation’s territorial integrity.
He also cautioned them to work harmoniously with other security agencies, shunning interagency rivalry.
