Troops neutralize kidnappers, rescue captives in Kaduna, Plateau
In a decisive crackdown on criminal activities, troops of the 3 Division and Operation SAFE HAVEN (OPSH) have neutralized two kidnappers, arrested suspected gunrunners, and rescued abducted victims in Plateau and Kaduna states.
According to Major Samson Zhakom, the Media Information Officer for OPSH, the operations were conducted under Operation LAFIYAN JAMA’A to dismantle armed criminal groups threatening local communities.
On March 12, troops stormed hideouts in Kuru and Turu, Jos South LGA, Plateau State, following intelligence on the presence of kidnappers and terrorists. Engaging the criminals in combat, the troops neutralized two suspects and recovered 18 rounds of 7.62mm (special) ammunition and nine rounds of 5.56x45mm ammunition.
In another operation at Josho Village, Bokkos LGA, troops rescued two abducted girls—11-year-old Nanbam Adamu and Dorcas Wantu—after kidnappers abandoned their captives and fled. The rescued victims have since been reunited with their families as follow-up operations continue to track down the fleeing suspects.
