Sterling Bank Sets New Standard, Implements Zero Transfer Fees on Digital Transactions
In a bold move to redefine customer-centric banking, Sterling Bank has scrapped transfer fees on all local online transactions, making it the first major Nigerian bank to eliminate the widely debated charges.
The bank’s Growth Executive for Consumer and Business Banking, Obinna Ukachukwu, announced the initiative on Tuesday, emphasizing that it aligns with Sterling Bank’s commitment to fair and inclusive financial services.

“We believe access to your own money shouldn’t come with a penalty,” Ukachukwu stated. “This is more than a financial decision—it’s about redefining banking to put customers first.”
The new policy is expected to benefit individuals and small businesses, easing the financial burden on those who rely on frequent digital transactions.
Ukachukwu further highlighted the bank’s forward-thinking approach, adding: “We’re not yet the biggest bank in Nigeria, but we’ve been the boldest. Sterling fearlessly believes in the future of Nigeria, and this is us backing Nigerians with more than words.”
