Military Eliminates 4 Terrorist Commanders, Captures Key Leader in Major Offensive

The Nigerian military has dealt a significant blow to terrorist factions, eliminating four high-profile commanders and capturing a wanted leader, Abdullahi Ali, during a series of operations in early 2025.

The Director of Defence Media Operations, Major General Markus Kangye, confirmed on Thursday that the slain commanders—Abba Allai (alias Amirul Khalid of Alafa), Abdullahi (alias Honour), Jagaban, and Dan Danger—were neutralized in combat engagements. Ali, who sustained severe gunshot wounds, was captured alive.

The military also arrested several gun runners and logistics suppliers, including Alhaji Mansur Mohammed, Shehu Babangida, Sagi David, Blessing Paul, and Shuaibu Maji. These arrests have disrupted the operational networks of Boko Haram (BHT), ISWAP, and JAS terrorists, causing internal strife among their ranks.

In another major success, Operation Delta Safe foiled crude oil theft valued at over N7.4 billion. Security forces seized over 6.2 million liters of stolen crude oil, 1.3 million liters of illegally refined diesel, and dismantled numerous illegal refineries, storage sites, and transportation networks.

Meanwhile, troops of Operation Hadin Kai launched aggressive raids in Borno State between March 27 and 29, neutralizing several ISWAP/JAS terrorists in Bama, Gwoza, Kaga, and Konduga. A significant cache of AK-47 rifles and homemade weapons was recovered.

In the Northwest, Operation Fasan Yamma targeted terrorist hideouts in Sokoto, Katsina, and Kano States, eliminating multiple threats and rescuing 16 kidnapped victims. In Kogi, Edo, and Kwara States, troops of Operation Whirl Punch apprehended five criminal suspects, including a notorious arms dealer, Shuaibu Maji.

Similarly, Operation Safe Haven in Plateau and Benue States led to the successful rescue of seven kidnapped victims and the recovery of significant arms and ammunition.

The military’s sustained counter-terrorism efforts have severely weakened insurgent operations nationwide. Coordinated air and ground offensives continue to cripple terrorist networks, reinforcing the nation’s commitment to restoring peace and security across Nigeria.
