Vigilantes attack neighbouring community as police arrest 6 robbery suspects in Abuja

Tensions boiled over in Faskari Local Government Area of Katsina State when vigilantes from Doma ‘B’ Village launched a violent attack on Balandawa Village on April 6. The vigilantes accused the community of harboring armed bandits despite an existing peace agreement.

The attack saw huts set ablaze, food supplies destroyed, and livestock slaughtered. Security forces responded quickly to restore calm, but investigations are ongoing amid fears of retaliatory violence.

In a separate incident in Katsayal Village, Sandamu LGA, two young men—Gaddafi Isah (35) and Badamasi Isah (30)—were lynched by an enraged mob who falsely accused them of stealing livestock.

The victims, reportedly learning how to drive in their father’s car, were attacked before being rescued by security agents. Sadly, both later died at Sandamu Community Health Centre.

However, police have launched a manhunt for those involved in the killing, as concerns grow over the rise in mob justice across the region.

Meanwhile, in Mpape, a suburb of the Federal Capital Territory, six suspects have been apprehended by police in connection with a robbery at the F.J.K Hotel on Sunday.

The victim, according to Zagazola, works as an escort driver for the Zamfara State governor, was ambushed on his way to a mosque and robbed of valuables worth ₦370,000. Police say investigations are ongoing to track down additional accomplices.

In another troubling development in the nation’s capital, a yet-to-be-identified VIP convoy opened fire indiscriminately while navigating a traffic jam along Bwari-Dutse Road on Saturday.

The confusion followed a fatal crash between a truck and a tricycle that had already claimed two lives. One bystander, Timothy John, was hit by a stray bullet and died at Kubwa General Hospital.

The incident has provoked widespread condemnation and demands for accountability over the excessive use of force by security escorts.
