Plateau Killings: Fani-Kayode Blames Foreign Mercenaries, Urges Governor Muftwang to Act Swiftly

Former Minister of Aviation, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode, has called on Plateau State Governor, Caleb Muftwang, to intensify efforts in curbing the ongoing spate of killings in the state, which he described as orchestrated acts of terror sponsored by foreign mercenaries.

In a widely circulated video, Fani-Kayode alleged that external elements from North Africa and the Sahel region were infiltrating Nigeria to foment chaos, targeting both Christians and Muslims across regional divides. He claimed the attacks were part of a broader agenda to destabilise the country ahead of the 2027 general elections.

“These killings, particularly in Plateau State, are being orchestrated by the usual suspects—foreign fighters coming in from North Africa and the Sahel to slaughter our people,” he stated. “This isn’t about religion or region. They are killing Christians and Muslims, northerners and southerners alike, with the sole aim of discrediting the government and plunging Nigeria into chaos.”

Fani-Kayode compared the current situation to events preceding the 2015 elections during President Goodluck Jonathan’s administration, warning that similar external interference was at play. He claimed that some Western interests, including unnamed elements from Israel, were behind efforts to undermine Nigeria’s democracy.

He advised President Bola Tinubu to adopt a hardline stance similar to that of former U.S. President Donald Trump, by strengthening border security and building detention facilities for illegal entrants.

“We must seal our borders like Trump did. Let us build prisons for these foreign invaders and, if necessary, eliminate them before they destroy our nation,” he urged.

The former minister condemned not only the mass killings but also the targeting and lynching of innocent Hausa and Fulani communities, calling for a national consensus to confront the threat.

“Nigeria is a great country and not a land of barbarians. Those who are benefitting politically from this insecurity should know they are digging a pit that will eventually consume them,” he said.

He expressed hope that Nigeria would overcome the current challenges, reaffirming that the country’s unity would remain intact despite the adversities.

“God’s will shall prevail. Nigerians—Christians and Muslims, northerners and southerners—will continue to stand united,” he declared.
