Kano commences airlifting of pilgrims for Hajj exercise May 13 – Official

The Kano State Pilgrims Welfare Board has confirmed that the airlift of intending pilgrims for the 2025 Hajj will commence on May 13, 2025.

This was disclosed in a statement made available to newsmen by the Board’s spokesperson, Sulaiman Dederi, on Saturday.

The Director General of the Board, Lamin Danbappa, announced the date during a visit to Hajj induction training sessions held at Ungogo and Bichi Local Government Areas. He emphasized that all preparations for a smooth operation had been finalized.

“We are fully prepared to commence the airlift of our pilgrims on May 13 as scheduled by the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria. All necessary arrangements have been concluded to ensure a seamless and hitch-free exercise,” Danbappa stated.

According to the schedule released by the National Hajj Commission, Kano State will inaugurate the first flight to Saudi Arabia via Max Air.

In a related development, the Chairman of the Board of Directors, Yusuf Lawan, urged all intending pilgrims to diligently participate in the ongoing induction courses. He stressed that the sessions are vital for equipping pilgrims with essential knowledge and guidelines for the spiritual journey.

“I urge all pilgrims to take the induction courses seriously, as they provide critical guidance for a successful Hajj experience. It is equally important to comply with all regulations laid down by Nigerian and Saudi authorities,” Lawan added.

The 2025 Hajj season is expected to see thousands of pilgrims from Kano and across Nigeria traveling to the Holy Land for the annual Islamic rites.
