Gov Uba Sani Hails DSS for Busting Kidnapping Syndicate, Arresting Gunrunners in Kaduna

Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani, has hailed the Department of State Services (DSS) for its outstanding performance in tackling insecurity, following the arrest of dozens of suspected criminals during recent operations across the state.

Speaking through the Commissioner for Justice and Attorney General, Sule Shuaibu, during a visit to the DSS Command in Kaduna on Sunday, the Governor praised the secret service for its strategic raids that led to the arrest of eight suspected bandits, 22 gunrunners and informants, as well as the recovery of a large cache of arms and ammunition.

Governor Sani commended the DSS for what he described as “relentless and professional efforts” in destabilizing criminal networks, noting that their operations have significantly boosted the security outlook of Kaduna State in the first quarter of 2025.

The Attorney General revealed that the DSS conducted 34 successful operations between January and March, resulting in the arrest of several other criminal elements, including 12 family members of suspected bandits, four cybercriminals, two human traffickers, and two vandals.

Highlighting the depth of the threat, Shuaibu disclosed that among those arrested was a serving security operative from Zamfara State, who confessed to stealing government ammunition and selling them to bandits. He was caught with 217 rounds of assorted ammunition intended for sale at ₦4 million. Another suspect was intercepted with 500 rounds of AK-47 live ammunition meant for illegal sale.

Governor Sani further extended his appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for appointing Mr. Oluwatosin Ajayi as Director General of the DSS, crediting the agency’s revitalized leadership for the improved security efforts seen across Kaduna and other parts of the country.

He assured citizens that the state government, in collaboration with security agencies, would continue to intensify efforts to eradicate banditry, arms trafficking, and other criminal activities, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to the safety and well-being of all residents.
