Troops Rescue 50 Kidnapped Victims, Recover 32 Rustled Cattle in Katsina

Troops of Operation FANSAN YANMA have rescued 50 kidnapped victims and recovered 32 rustled cows following a foiled bandit attack on Raudama village in Faskari Local Government Area of Katsina State, PRNigeria reports.

Sources confirmed to Zagazola that the incident occurred around 8:00 p.m. on Sunday April 27, when suspected bandits invaded the village. In swift response to a distress call, joint patrol teams comprising military and police personnel engaged the assailants in a gun duel, overpowering them and forcing their retreat.

As a result of the operation, 50 kidnapped victims were successfully rescued unhurt, while 32 rustled cows were recovered. However, two residents, identified as Mai’ Unguwa Isah Biredi, 50, and Hassan Na Sakaka, 40, sustained injuries during the confrontation and were rushed to the General Hospital in Funtua for treatment.

In a separate incident earlier the same day, one person was killed and three others injured following a bandit attack on Kwantamawa village in Dutsinma Local Government Area. The attack, which occurred around 1:30 a.m., saw armed men storm the community, break into shops, and set two houses ablaze.

Troops were again mobilized in response to a distress call and deployed to the scene. Despite their intervention, one victim was fatally shot, while three others suffered gunshot injuries and were evacuated to the General Hospital, Dutsinma, for medical attention.

The latest incidents highlight the persistent security challenges facing rural communities in Katsina State despite ongoing military operations aimed at restoring peace in the region.
