Kano Police Arrest 33 Suspected Thugs, Recover Weapons, Drugs

The Kano State Police Command has arrested 33 suspected thugs, popularly known as Yan Daba, during intelligence-led clearance operations conducted across major flashpoints within the Kano metropolis over a five-day period.

The operations, carried out from April 23 to 28, 2025, were led by CSP Bashir Musa Gwadabe, Officer in Charge of the Anti-Daba Team, under the directive and close supervision of the State Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori.

According to a statement issued on Monday by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, the clearance operations were based on actionable intelligence and targeted areas notorious for criminal activities. The police recovered dangerous weapons, illicit drugs, and stolen properties from the suspects.

The suspects, he said, would face prosecution for offenses related to armed robbery, possession of dangerous weapons, and illicit drug dealing, among others.

The Command reiterated its commitment to maintaining public safety, aligning with the directives of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, PhD, NPM, to sustain peace and security nationwide.

“The Kano State Police Command remains dedicated to protecting lives and property. We will continue round-the-clock visibility patrols, intelligence-driven raids, and strengthened community policing initiatives to ensure a peaceful environment for all,” CP Bakori was quoted as saying.

He further appreciated the public for their continued support and urged citizens to provide timely and credible information to assist the police in their fight against crime.

The statement also shared emergency lines for citizens to report any suspicious activities: 08032419754, 08123821575, and 09029292926.
