FG Declares Thursday May 1 Public Holiday
The Federal Government has declared Thursday, May 1, 2025, as a public holiday to commemorate this year’s Workers’ Day.
Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, made the announcement in a statement issued on Tuesday, emphasizing the vital role of peace in fostering industrialization and economic growth.
He lauded Nigerian workers for their commitment, resilience, and contributions to national development, noting that their efforts have earned the country admiration globally.

“There is dignity in labour; the dedication and commitment to the work we do is vital to nation-building,” Tunji-Ojo said.
The minister further urged workers to embrace innovation and strive for higher productivity in their various fields, adding that improved work ethics would uplift governance and ensure broader benefits for all Nigerians.
Reaffirming the Tinubu administration’s commitment to the security and welfare of citizens, Tunji-Ojo called on Nigerians to remain hopeful and trust in the government’s “Renewed Hope Agenda.”
He concluded by wishing all Nigerian workers a joyful and peaceful celebration.
