He urged the students to leverage new media tools while upholding high professional standards.

Muhammad Dahiru Lawal, Head of Fact-Checking, Marketing, and Special Projects at Image Merchants Promotion Limited (IMPR), publishers of PRNigeria and Economic Confidential; delivered an inspiring lecture on journalism’s transformative power.

Drawing from personal experiences, he highlighted the challenges journalists often face—including fake news, threats, and pressures from powerful interests—and encouraged the students to pursue media careers with purpose and resilience.

PRNigeria‘s Assistant Editor, Zekeri Idakwo Laruba, spoke on the importance of character development in journalism.

He stressed that technical proficiency must be complemented by integrity, patience, and discipline—the core pillars of a successful media career.

The students were also introduced to newsroom operations, fact-checking procedures, and crisis communication strategies.

A brief tour of the Centre’s editorial room allowed them to interact with staff, interns, and corps members, who shared their own learning experiences.

Describing the visit as both insightful and motivational, the students pledged to apply the knowledge gained as they progress in their academic and professional journeys.
